Welcome to the Ohio Utilities Protection Service!

Call 1-800-362-2764 before you dig: It’s the law!

By law, everyone MUST contact the Ohio Utilities Protection Service, 1-800-362-2764, at least 48 hours but no more than 10 working days (excluding weekends and legal holidays) before beginning ANY digging project.

A vital resource for Ohio residents and businesses alike, the Ohio Utilities Protection Service acts as a communication link between utility companies and individuals planning any digging activity. This site includes all the information you need to dig safely and protect your community.

Ohio Safety Day 2008

On June 10th O.U.P.S. held its first annual Safety Day. The event took place in Richfield Ohio, at the Operating Engineers training facility. O.U.P.S. would like to thank the Operating Engineers, both their staff and student's for helping with various activities throughout the day, as well as everyone in attendance.

We have received overwhelming positive feedback from a multitude of participants, and because the event was so successful we are already planning for next year. If you were unable to come this year please try to plan and attend next year's event! You may click on the link below to view a number of pictures that were taken throughout the day.
