    Damage Prevention Councils

Ohio currently has six Damage Prevention Councils (DPCs) / Utility Safety Councils and five Utility Coordinating Councils (UCCs). Each Council provides an open forum to share ideas, strategies, and solutions to prevent damage to underground facilities during excavation. Council members include; underground facility owners and operators, representatives from OHIO811, excavators, contractors, government agencies, and other interested individuals.

To further its mission, each council sponsors events, seminars, outings, and workshops for members and guests, so make sure to check out our events page.

Mission

The Central Ohio Damage Prevention Council was created to bring together underground facility operators, government agencies, excavators, industry associations, and service providers to address issues related to the goal of reducing damages to underground facilities, providing cooperation and coordination of construction activities, and to improve communication, involvement, and commitment to these goals.

Mission

Ohio’s Utility Coordinating Councils are similar to our six Damage Prevention Councils. These Councils meet quarterly to share ideas, strategies, and solutions to prevent damage to utility facilities during excavation.
